Charles Borrelli, 62, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, Sept. 25 to receipt of child pornography, New Jersey's U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said in a news release.

According to court documents and statements, Borrelli downloaded pictures of child sexual abuse on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022. He also used a peer-to-peer file-sharing network to distribute photos and videos on the same day.

Investigators said Borrelli had more than 600 images and videos of child sexual abuse. They were found on several electronic devices that were seized when a search warrant was executed at his home in February 2022.

Prosecutors also said some pictures showed victims who were infants.

"HSI Newark is at the forefront of the fight against child sexual exploitation and abuse across the globe," said Spiros Karabinas, acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Newark. "Together with our partners, we are determined to seek justice for the innocent lives harmed in the type of heinous online imagery Charles Borrelli admitted having in his possession."

Borrelli was charged with third-degree possession of child pornography when he lived in Voorhees in 2017, Philadelphia Magazine reported. He owned an IT firm called Dynamic Sights and was once a contractor with the Philadelphia Department of Human Services, an agency that works with thousands of at-risk children.

Borrelli faces 15 to 40 years in prison. His sentence will be enhanced from a range of five to 20 years because of his previous child pornography conviction.

A sentencing date hasn't been announced for Borrelli.
